Welcome! The College of Arts & Sciences at Penn invites you to apply for a travel grant to support your participation in an academic conference where you will present original research directly related to your major or minor.
This fund helps offset travel-related expenses and is intended to support scholars sharing their work with broader academic communities.
Students are required to first seek travel funding from their department, program, and/or lab, as applicable, before applying for additional funding through this application.
Application Materials
To complete your application, you will need to upload the following documents:
Abstract of your research presentation
Proof of acceptance to the conference (e.g., confirmation email or letter)
Detailed budget on a separate sheet, including:
Conference registration fees
Lodging costs
Travel expenses (airfare and ground transportation)
Any funding you have applied for or received from your department, program, or lab for this conference
In addition, you will be asked to list a recommender, who will receive a request to submit a letter of recommendation directly through the application portal. Your recommender should be your research mentor or the undergraduate chair of your department or program.
Quarterly Review Schedule
Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis. For the 2025–2026 academic year, submissions will be accepted up to the following dates: October 20, November 30, February 1, and May 1. Applications received by these dates will be considered in that quarter’s review cycle.
Eligibility and Guidelines
You may only apply for conferences that occur before your expected graduation date.
You may not apply for funding for conferences that have already occurred.
Students are eligible for one travel grant during their undergraduate career.
Funding is limited, and priority is given to students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by Student Records and Financial Services.
Your research must be conducted under the mentorship of Penn faculty or Penn-affiliated faculty.
Applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
