PennCURF

Research Peer Advisor (RPA) Application
Opens Mar 17 2026 05:00 PM (EDT)
Deadline Apr 19 2026 11:59 PM (EDT)
Description

Research Peer Advisor responsibilities include:

  • Serve as mentor to a small group of 1st and 2nd year students who have questions about research.
  • Be available via email (posted on the CURF website) and at outreach events to advise aspiring undergraduate researchers.
  • Share your undergraduate research experiences at CURF Information Sessions, Research Symposia, Workshops, and other CURF outreach events across campus.
  • Work with the CURF staff to plan programs, provide feedback, conduct outreach, and strengthen the undergraduate research culture at Penn.

The strongest RPAs are not necessarily the superstar researchers. The most effective RPAs are those students who are strong communicators (including being responsive to emails and meeting requests), eager to help others, and work well in groups, including with groups of people they don’t know well.

Interviews will be conducted with qualified candidates who most closely meet the program’s current needs.
